The world of six-day racing is a fascinating one with its own history, tradition, following, rules and skills. It even has its own type of racing jersey. They were made from silk, which looked incredible under the lights of the world’s most famous indoor velodromes because silk holds colour well, and it shines.

Six-day races revolve around Madisons, so are contested by two-man teams who get paid to ride each races in jerseys supplied by the organisers. Each time is sponsored, often by a business local to the six-day, so the jerseys bear those sponsor’s names and logos. Each team’s number is also incorporated in their jersey design, very often with one rider’s number in white and the other in black to help spectators identify them.

Modern six-day jerseys retain all of the above, but are made from a shiny up-to-date fabric that looks like silk.
